The Athlete’s Smoothie

Athletes can also enjoy the flavor of New Zealand Cassis and feel the power of this healthy smoothie. This recipe was first shared at the 2017 Best Cassis Smoothie Contest that was held in conjunction with the Tour de France, a bicycle road race competition. Under the supervision of the International Black Currant Association, (the New Zealand Blackcurrant Co-operative is also a member of the International Black Currant Association), this recipe was invented to improve athletic performance and speed recovery.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. cassis juice concentrate
  • 1 celery stalk
  • 70 grams yogurt,
  • 100 grams watermelon
  • ice 

Method

Place all the ingredients in an electric blender and mix until thoroughly combined. Your favorite vegetable can be substituted for the watermelon. For example, 100 grams of carrots, half and avocado, 100 grams of broccoli, or 100 grams of zucchini are all excellent substitutions. Revive your body with this healthy smoothie!
